The Hampshire Girls Youth Football League has become one of the inaugural Flagship Leagues in showcasing England FA's ‘The Greater Game’ initiative. ABOUT GET INVOLVED WHAT IS THE GREATER GAME? In partnership with M&S Food, The Greater Game is a purpose-led programme which uses the power of football to improve the health and wellbeing of young people across the nation. The Greater Game is made specifically for those aged 12-16 years under four key elements: MOVE WELL, THINK WELL, EAT WELL AND SLEEP WELL. Our aim? To inspire all young people to make at least one healthier action per week. A healthier action can be as easy and simple as swapping fizzy drink for water, getting extra hours sleep per night, going for a walk with a friend or family member or spending time planning out the week ahead. As the 25/26 season winds down, the focus now shifts towards preparations for the 26/27 season. As we prepare, we also turn our attention to the introduction of the FA's new initiative ‘Future Fit’ and the introduction of the new format of 3v3 for U7's. As part of this, Hampshire FA have announced a number of ‘Showcase Events’ on this new initiative, for more information on this please visit: FutureFit Hampshire Showcase Events. FutureFit is the set of changes that will be introduced into the youth game, marking the new direction for grassroots football form the beginning of the 2026/27 season. As part of the changes, U7 players will move to an exciting 3v3 format, designed to maximise touches, increase engagement, and accelerate player development in a fun, age-appropriate environment. To help clubs and leagues prepare for this change, we are delivering a series of Showcase Events across Hampshire. What to Expect Our showcase events are designed specifically for club and league officials who want to understand how the new format will work in practice. Each event will: Include a CPD element Provide opportunities for a Q&A with Hampshire FA staff and early-adopting league officialsDemonstrate how to set up and deliver 3v3 matchesShow how teams can rotate from one game to anotherOffer a live insight into how matchdays will look for Under7’s playing 3v3 This is your opportunity to see the changes first-hand, ask questions, and leave confident about implementing 3v3 football ahead of the 2026/27 season. Dates and Locations We are still working on finalising dates, times and locations for some of our showcase events. You can still register for every event, but please note that event which show a Date, Timings or Venue TBC are subject to change.
